KAJANG: The home minister has ordered a full-scale investigation into the death of a 15-year-old schoolboy who was shot by police after a car chase in Shah Alam early on Monday.
A special committee, headed by Deputy Home Minister Datuk Wira Abu Seman Yusop, will oversee investigation into the case which has been classified as murder.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said they wanted to know what actually transpired that led to the fatal shooting of Aminulrasyid Amzah, a Form Three student of SMK Section 9 in Shah Alam.
Initial reports stated that Aminulrasyid was shot when he tried to reverse his car into four policemen after he was cornered in Jalan 11/2G in Section 11, Shah Alam.
It was also reported that police found a parang in the car.
“I have ordered a thorough investigation into the incident. There will be no coverup or bias. We are not taking the matter lightly, especially since it involved a schoolboy.

"However, at this point, it is too soon for us to make assumptions,” the home minister said after a meeting with visiting judges at Bukit Wira Kajang Prison, here, yesterday.
The four policemen have been reassigned to desk duties pending investigation.
Earlier in Shah Alam, Selangor Umno deputy chief Datuk Seri Noh Omar said he would raise the issue at tomorrow’s cabinet meeting to ensure investigations were carried out quickly and fairly.
The agriculture and agro-based industry minister also hoped that the incident would not be sensationalised and politicised.
Noh also urged police not to issue any statements which could hurt the victim’s family further.
“I agree with the family who complained that police should not accuse the victim of being a suspected criminal until investigations are completed,” Noh said.
The victim’s family has said Aminulrasyid was a good boy who was not involved in any illegal activities.
It was learnt that the victim and a schoolmate had gone to Section 7 just after midnight to help a friend who had a flat motorcycle tyre.
It was believed that the victim was then involved in a minor accident after which he was chased by several motorcyclists.

Two police cars then joined in the chase.
It was reported that police tried to stop the car by firing several shots at the tyres, but one bullet hit Aminulrasyid in the back of his head.
The car hit the wall of a house before coming to a halt. The victim’s friend, who was not injured, escaped on foot.

Setahu saya di luar negara biasanya apabila berlakunya adegan kejar-mengejar, pihak berkuasa akan bertindak secara bijak dengan beberapa kaedah untuk memperlahankan kenderaan yang dikejar. Antaranya penggunaan "spike-chain", stopper net dsb. Kadangkala, kaedah pemanduan "pit manouver" dilakukan.
