She hardly spoke to her classmates and it was her mother, Zurinah Tabingin, 34, who was seen attending to her and ensuring that Zurin would be able to adjust quickly in her new environment.
Zurin will not use a standard-issue chair, which is too large for her.
Instead she will use a motorised chair, specially designed by Universiti Malaysia Pahang three years ago.
The chair, which allows a person to adjust its height with a touch of a button was previously used by her brother, Zulhanif, who was only 72cm tall when he enrolled in the school in 2007.
Zurinah, a housewife, said only her eldest child was of normal height.
Teacher Khairuni Mohd Zin said she would ensure that Zurin was able to focus during lessons and that she received extra attention.
