Sand mining company denies allegations, demands apology

PETALING JAYA: Selangor-owned sand mining company Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd (KSSB) said Kapar MP S. Manikavasagam's allegations against the company were "irresponsible and vicious lies".
In a statement Thursday, the company denied the allegations and demanded an apology and withdrawal of the false accusations within 48 hours from the Kapar MP.
"KSSB welcomes any investigations by the Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) and also the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
"The allegations of losses and mismanagement are totally an act to tarnish the company.
"In fact, we are willing to meet with the respective agencies, members of parliament and state assemblymen to brief them on these baseless allegations and accusations," said KBBS executive director Ramli Abd Majed in the statement.
Ramli also said that Kapar MP should resign and that KSSB should be compensated for the alleged derogatory statement.
He added that the statements were clearly a political stunt.
