MR KARPAL SINGH IS NOT CONSISTENT AND PLAYING POLITICS OF EXPEDIENCY

A few weeks ago according to news papers Karpal Singh was qouted as saying that the hotel employee involved in the so called molest case with the ex minister cannot withdraw her police report. She had earlier made a police report against the ex minister. Subsequently she decided to withdraw her report as it was a case of misunderstanding.

But in newpapers Karpal made statements that she cannot withdraw her police report.

Now we fast forward to last week. It was reported that Karpal himself made a police report against a person who had posted a statement on the PAS Johor Website making a threat against Karpal's life by stating that Karpal's blood is 'halal'. This means that it is permissable to kill Karpal. I am not sure the reasons why the person made the posting on the PAS website. It turned out that the person was a teenager and a supporter of PAS.

Now he accompanied by his father had made an apology and it was accepted by Karpal.

Now it is interesting to watch what is Karpal's next action. Would he now want to make a request to the Police to withdraw his police report? This will be contradictory to his earlier stand in the case of the hotel employee who wanted to withdraw her police report.

Karpal is now caught in a dilemma of his own making. As the Malay saying goes 'di makan mati emak , diluah mati bapak' or something along that line.

But knowing Karpal he will do anything that is politically expedient. Like what he had done when he defended the Perak MB recently when the fellow referred to Punjabis as Bengalis thus angering the Punjabis in Perak.

But Mr Karpal as a lawyer you should not only be interested in justice but more importantly also the truth of the matter. Maybe we can not expect a politician in the likes of Karpal to be able to do this.

He will do whatever is politically expedient to him and cannot rise to be a statesman despite his age. What a sad situation.
